Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock welcomes four university students to intern at our office for the 2019 spring semester. In this series, we’ll introduce you to the talented students that are helping, learning and gaining experience at our office this semester.
Meet Leah!
Where are you originally from, what is your major and what year are you?I’m originally from Lake Forest, California, and I’m a senior Human Development & Family Studies major.
What do you want to do after graduation?
After graduation, I hope to get a job with a non-profit agency somewhere in Texas. Eventually, I would like to continue my education and get my Master’s degree in Social Work.
How did you hear about this internship opportunity and what steps did you take to get here?
I heard about the internship through my advisor at Tech. First, I sent Debra an email inquiring about the internship, then she brought me in for an interview and the rest is history!
Why did you choose to intern at BBBS Lubbock?
I chose to intern at BBBS Lubbock because BBBS is an amazing organization and I feel this internship will prepare me for my future career working in a non-profit organization.
What are you hoping to learn while interning at BBBS?
I’m hoping to learn anything and everything about this field so I’m prepared to work for a non-profit organization in the future.
What was/is your favorite class in college?
My favorite class in college was Coaching Leaders with Dr. Merrill because I learned a lot about myself and how to be a better leader.
What activities are you involved with at school?
I was involved with my sorority, Alpha Phi.
Do you have a special talent?
Not really.

The Office

I have always wanted to travel to Greece.

Stranger Things. Every time a new season comes out, I watch it all in one day.
