Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock welcomes four university students to intern at our office for the 2019 spring semester. In this series, we’ll introduce you to the talented students that are helping, learning and gaining experience at our office this semester.
Meet Hayden!
Where are you originally from, what is your major and what year are you?
I am originally from Temple, Texas. Currently a third year Junior at Texas Tech University. I am double majoring in Human Development and Family Studies as well as Speech Pathology with a minor in Health Professions.
What do you want to do after graduation?
After graduation I plan to attend a two year graduate program for Speech Pathology. After my completion of the graduate program I plan to become a clinical Speech Pathologist.
How did you hear about this internship opportunity and what steps did you take to get here?
I heard about this internship through my studies at Tech. Once I found out that Big Brothers Big Sisters was an option for my internship I emailed Debra Gonzales to see about setting up a one on one interview to discuss the internship more in depth.
Why did you choose to intern at BBBS Lubbock?
I chose BBBS because I feel that it is a very important program in our community and has the ability to help transform live for the better.
What are you hoping to learn while interning at BBBS?
I hope to learn how BBBS has impacted people’s lives and what the possible outcomes are of this program. I want to learn about what all goes into the Big Brother Big Sister process and learn more about how a match is made.

Prenatal and Infant Development
What activities are you involved with at school?
I am on the Texas Tech Pom Squad and an HDFS ambassador for the College of Human Sciences
